The variety of fish is awesome- my kids loved seeing all the different sea creatures (and trying to name them with zero accuracy). The four rods are great for group play, and the setup promises hours of entertainment⦠in theory.Hereâs the catch (pun intended): the rods use a string, not a stick, and the magnet is weak, which means anytime there’s a ripple, fishing becomes a full-on test of patience and fine motor skills. My kid ended up yelling, âD@MN-IT JUST LET ME CATCH YOU, FISH!â Parenting: the ultimate mirror. ð¤¦ââï¸Still, itâs fun, educational, and great for coordination- just maybe not ideal for hyper wiggly water play unless you’re training them for competitive angling.

What great entertainment for my young grandaughters!
These were a good price, arrived quickly and I was pleasantly surprised with the quality. I was expecting Dollar Tree quality, but this toy is much better. The plastic is not brittle or flimsy and there are no sharp edges. If the fishing poles get dinged or knocked out of service due to rough housing (it’s bound to happen with kids), they are easily repairable. The magnets on the fish are strong enough to make fishing successful. Of course, this toy is supposed to be used with supervision (not only because it’s to be used around water, or not) because of the magnets that could potentially be dislodged. We have not had that happen, but I am cautious with any toy and the potential hazards. The girls (ages 4 and 8) have used this at bath time and also outdoors in the kiddie pool for hours of fishing fun. This comes with a wide variety of fish and sea life, enough to turn into a sorting game or add different aspects to our “fishing tournaments” (for example, “catch all the sharks”, or “catch all the blue fish, or only the red fish”). This is one of our Amazon purchases that was beyond our expectations, just when we were thinking of giving up Amazon.

Perfect for three year olds
Threes teacher here looking for a fishing activity for my sensory table that I could also use in my winter ice fishing activity. I was worried this would be too difficult for my students to succeed at matching the magnet on the end of the line to the tiny screw on the fish. It is challenging but not in a bad way! They worked hard at it and were able to be successful! Loved that there were four rods and lots of fish to catch. This is an excellent addition to my classroom!
