Nice kit for this price, but not for absolute newbies
This is a cute kit that includes all of the basic necessities to make a cute little amigarumi friends. The completed projects are quite little, so I added some key chains to them so they can be used as bag charms because they are the perfect size for that. The key chains to them is not included but really should be.The yarn is pretty soft and texture-wise is pretty nice to work with tho is is S spun and has a tendency to split, especially with the included hook. The yarn colors are super bright and do a pretty good job matching the colors in the image.The hook is very small, I think this kit could easily go up in hook size and still get the same result. I used a larger hook size and I did not have any issues with stuffing coming thru, and I stuffed these to the absolute max.The patterns included are cute, they are not entirely accurate, so this is better for someone with a little experience, they can be a beginner, but should understand things like safety eyes. The instructions on the dinosaur/dragon said to add the eyes after it is stuffed, which is not going to work because they are safety eyes and you need to get to the inside to put them on. There are also some instructions missing regarding assembly, if you have a bit of experience this can easily be fixed.I do like that the patterns are printed out so you do not need to have internet connection whenAll the same the projects are very cute, I did make some alterations to the pig to make it what I thought was cuter, but the instruction in the kit were accurate with stitch count and such. The printing is clear and there are not many stitches needed making it good for crocheters of many levels. (I am an expert).Even with those issues this is a good kit for the price. I have seen similar kits listed for a lot more, but for 12$ (listed price at the time of writing this review), this is a decent little kit.

Great deal but not the best for beginners.
First of all, I’d like to say this kit has a great value, the yarn is great quality, the hook is nice, it comes with everything you need… But my main complaint is that these are not beginner friendly. As someone who has been doing amigurumi for 10 years and done plenty of different, sometimes poorly written, patterns in my time, I can easily figure out how to navigate these, mostly, poorly written patterns. They remind me of times I have gotten a pattern in my earlier days and completely gave up on it because some do not go into actual detail and a lot of them show the safety eyes being added after everything is already sewed up, which is not how they work. The pig and the penguin specifically do not tell you what row or how many stitches apart the eyes should be, because it is more like an afterthought.That being said, I am only removing one star, as it is a great learning experience and if you can navigate the poorly written patterns, you cannot beat the price.You get a lot of different colors of yarn, a few are used for multiple different projects. There is more than enough to complete each one. There’s even enough to restart a project if you somehow mess it up early on.It comes with a hook, which is fairly small and not what I would normally use, but it works for what it’s worth, the stitches are just a bit tighter than most projects I’ve done. It has stitch markers, which if you crochet a lot, you know those little suckers grow legs and run away pretty often so it’s always nice to have extras!The safety eyes are pretty standard, but they work well and are not hard to push on properly like some can be!

Excellent value!
I am just getting back into crochet, and thought I’d order this to have some nice, small projects to work on. I was a little shocked at how much there was in the bag–I just kept pulling out more and more yarn.It feels like it comes with plenty of yarn to complete each of the six projects, and the yarn feels soft and good quality. It also comes with stuffing (don’t throw away the weird white bag that looks like packing material!), a crochet hook, needles, stitch markers, and plastic eyes.As far as the instructions, those come in two parts. There’s a book that covers basic crochet stitches with lots of full color photos and links to a couple of online videos. There’s even a piece of practice yarn included so you don’t have to ruin your project yarn with your practice stitches. Each project has its own instruction book that gives you an overview of the stitches you need to know, then walks you through each project step by step with photos.I’m not sure how easy this would be for beginners, but as someone with moderate crochet experience who hasn’t picked up a hook in a decade or more, the instructions seemed pretty straightforward and on par with other instructions I’ve used. The step-by-step photos should really help.Overall I’m really pleased with how much is here for the price! I will update this review after I’ve completed one or two of these. Can’t wait!

Really fun kit!
I’m not a newbie at crocheting, but I am new to doing anything “complicated” like this. Or at least, I thought I was.Unpacking the kit – the skeins of yarn are generous, high quality acrylic, and the colors are lovely. There is more than enough yarn to do each of the six characters. There is also a generous amount of stuffing. I was expecting a cheap plastic crochet hook – but much to my suprise, they had included an aluminum hook with an ergonomic soft (rubber?) handle. It also includes a number of stitch markers and accessories for the characters.So, the thing that actually made me think I could actually make one of these was the really helpful stitch basics booklet that they included. It lays out a detailed step by step method for doing each of the stitches you will need! I used some old scrap yarn to practice and ‘remember’ how to crochet before I got going on the project. Each one of the characters has a dedicated, step by step booklet that gives directions on how to make them. It’s all written really well and I actually had a lot of fun working on them! I will update the review with a picture when I finish my first one!
